Supporting Children Through Specialist Therapy
We provide paediatric hydrotherapy in Birmingham in a safe, supportive and structured environment, designed to build confidence and improve movement. Our hydrotherapy sessions for children are tailored to individual needs and delivered with a calm, clinically guided approach.
Paediatric hydrotherapy can be especially beneficial for children who need support with mobility, coordination, physical development or neurological rehabilitation. It can also work alongside physiotherapy and wider hydrotherapy treatment depending on the child’s needs and goals.

Working With Families

A Safe Environment for Children
Safety and comfort are prioritised at all times, with appropriate supervision and support throughout every session. Our aim is to create a positive experience where children can feel secure, engage with therapy and progress at the right pace for them.
Why Paediatric Hydrotherapy Can Help
Warm water can create a more supportive environment for movement, helping children feel more comfortable and confident during therapy.
Paediatric hydrotherapy may help with:
- Improving mobility and range of movement
- Building confidence in movement
- Supporting balance and coordination
- Reducing fear or discomfort during exercise
- Encouraging engagement in therapy
For some children, hydrotherapy can be a valuable part of a broader rehabilitation programme alongside paediatric neurological rehabilitation and cerebral palsy therapy.

Our Approach & What to Expect on Your First Visit
When you book your first appointment, our admin team will help you with any queries you have and will send you all the documentation and information regarding the appointment.
Can I refer myself to Bluebell? Do you accept Charity funding? Do you accept private medical insurance?
Yes, we accept referrals from anywhere. Bluebell Hydro and Physio do receive referrals from doctors but we also accept self-referrals and referrals from family, carers, solicitors, case managers, rehabilitation companies, consultants and many more.
How soon can I have a paediatric hydrotherapy appointment?
Bluebell Hydro and Physio have no waiting lists. We are normally able to arrange an assessment within 24-72 hours. We can often provide same day appointments.
What should I wear? What should I bring with me to the hydrotherapy assessment?
Suitable clothing depends on the nature of your child’s condition. It is likely that some movement assessment will be required to allow the physiotherapist to assess and treat the problem effectively. Loose clothing should be worn for the initial assessment, and swimwear (waterproof if needed, must be provided) and two towels are required for the pool area.
To get the maximum benefit out of your initial assessment you should bring with you:
- Suitable clothing
- Relevant medical reports or letters
- Relevant scan or x-ray reports
- Any supports / braces / orthotics used
- A parent, carer or family member to assist with dressing and transfers if needed
Will my child receive treatment on the first visit?
If booked as a combined Initial Assessment and first treatment session, treatment is usually provided on the first visit and you will generally be advised of things to complete before the next session. With very complex cases treatment may not begin at the first visit. Wherever possible treatment will always be provided at the first visit.
